Arizon Abogados is proud to support the third edition of the Málaga City International Piano Competition, one of Spain’s leading international piano contests and an increasingly important platform for young musical talent.
The 2026 edition was held in Málaga from June 19, bringing together twenty-four pianists from twelve nationalities. Participants competed through three elimination stages: two solo-recital rounds and a chamber-music semifinal, in which the six semifinalists performed a quintet with the Gerhard Quartet.
The grand finale took place on June 27 at the Teatro Cervantes, where the finalists performed with the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Armenian conductor Serguéi Smbatyan.
The winner of the III Málaga City International Piano Competition was Russian pianist Elizaveta Ukrainskaia, born in Offenbach am Main, Germany, in 1996. She performed Tchaikovsky’s Piano Conceto No. 1 in a powerful and expressive interpretation that earned her jury’s First Prize. Second prize went to Ukrainian pianist Roman Fediurko, born in Kyiv in 2004, while Japanese pianish Shion Ota, born in Osaka in 2000, recieved third prize for best chamber-music performance for her interpretation of Brahms’ Piano Quintet at the Fundación Unicaja María Cristina Hall. Fediurko recieved both the Young Jury Prize and the Audience Favourite Special Prize.
The international jury, chaired by Luis and Victor del Valle, awarded the First Prize to Ukrainskaia at the Teatro Cervantes in a ceremony attended by several authorities, including the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre. The First prize was endowed with €20,000, a diploma, a trophy designed by Flow81, and a concert tour including performances in Spain, Cyprus, Germany, Italy, and France. The competition’s creator and director, pianist Pablo Amorós, underlined the project’s commitment to continuity in its annual format, with plans to strengthen the competition through the creation of a foundation dedicated to promoting music and bringing leading performers to wider audiences through the year.
